EMCC 25th Anniversary Banquet
On January 14th, 2012, despite the first real taste of winter, the EMCC held its 25th Anniversary and Annual Awards Banquet. The event was held at the Italian Cultural Center in the Juventus Room and was attended by 48 current and past members.
The evening started out with a video presentation by outgoing club President Jim Yeske, with a look back at 25 memorable moments in the club’s history. We were then treated to a fabulous meal in classic Italian Cultural Center style. Following dinner the group enjoyed a beautifully prepared cake provided graciously by Peter and Lesley Heppleston. The cake was specially decorated in the official club colors and tasted great! Peter Bigg and Heinz von zur Gathen did the official cake cutting.
Our guest speaker Michael Kennedy gave a well prepared presentation on training, with an emphasis on proper recovery and how it is extremely beneficial to a serious athlete. Thank you Michael for your informative presentation!
We then held the awards presentation with several new names being added to the club trophies. The evening was capped off with the presentation of the Maurice Johnson Memorial Cup to Peter Heppleston by Hazel Johnson, who graced us with her presence! Peter won the Age Standard competition with an incredible time of +8:59, congratulations to Peter and all the other award winners for the 2011 race season!
